Understanding Sleep Cycles
What Are Sleep Cycles?
A complete sleep cycle lasts approximately 90 minutes
Each cycle includes light sleep, deep sleep, and REM sleep
Waking up between cycles (at the end) reduces grogginess
Recommended Cycle Options:
3 cycles: 4.5 hours (minimum recommended)
4 cycles: 6 hours (standard recommendation)
5 cycles: 7.5 hours (optimal for most adults)
6 cycles: 9 hours (for recovery or long sleep)
7 cycles: 10.5 hours (maximum for most people)
Why 15 Minutes?
The calculator adds 15 minutes to account for the average time it takes to fall asleep. This ensures you get complete cycles from the moment you try to sleep.
